THE INTERNET
What is the internet??
It is a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols.
It is then broken down into different parts: LAN, WAN and WWW
- LAN - A local-area network (LAN) is a computer network that spans a relatively small area. Most often, a LAN is confined to a single room, building or group of buildings, however, one LAN can be connected to other LANs over any distance via telephone lines and radio waves.
- WAN - A wide area network is a telecommunications network that extends over a large geographical distance for the primary purpose of computer networking. Wide area networks are often established with leased telecommunication circuits. It is when many LAN's are connected together
- WWW - The World Wide Web (WWW) is combination of all resources and users on the Internet that are using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).
- Packages - A collection of programs or subroutines with related functionality.
Those listed above make up the bsics of the internet. How all the computers, servers, etc connect and how the data is transferred.
